I’m just curious.
The man I was with when he was born left recently, when he was five months. My son started laughing at him at around 4 months and it was just the most adorable thing ever.
When he left, however, my son didn’t laugh again. 
He left for about two weeks, then started coming to get him for civilly-decided visitation but he still hasn’t laughed.
I don’t know if it’s the stress from his father leaving or not, but I’m hoping it’s not.
What can I do to help my monkey laugh again? What makes your kids laugh?

The adage ‘laughter is the best medicine’ could well be true as there is strong evidence to suggest that laughter can actually improve health. I have read that laughter therapy (also known as psycho-neuroimmunology) can actually reduce stress hormone. The psychological benefits of humour are being recognised in the healthcare field. People often store negative emotions, such as anger, sadness and fear, rather than expressing them. Laughter provides a way for these emotions to be harmlessly released. Laughter is cathartic. Laughter also triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers, and produces a general sense of well-being.

Even had I thought of trying to get my boys to do this I probably couldn’t have. Neither were coerced into any of this and neither were hurt (for very long anyway). This was just one of those moments when I had the video camera out because the boys were being fun and they provided something really very funny.
